Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your vacation to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Beside the historic and social aspects of this wonderful kayaking vacation, this route is 100% environmentally friendly. The kayak tour was designed to respect nature and the local marine environment. You will be accompanied by an expert local guide at all times who will guide you through the route and ensure that you, and the environment are protected. We request our guests leave the marine environment pristine, taking all rubbish with them to dispose of when back on land in the appropriate way.

Our guests typically look for a different experience and an alternative to large-resort-commercial-travels. We therefore steer clear of touristy areas and instead opt to include peaceful locations, small villages, good local food, "secret" beaches. On this trips, guests will camp - a form of accommodation which keeps carbon emissions and energy consumption low. As always, we ensure campsites are left clean and rubbish free. All our trips are 100% customized pilgrimages which take guests away from over-touristy areas and into undiscovered regions.

A large part of our travels has a touch off (or is entirely) an active vacation, such as this one in the ocean. The wonderful and enthusiastic work, which is being done to protect and maintain wildlife and national parks is dependent on visitors and their financial support. Quality tourism means for us quality tourists, which are interested not only to see secret, hidden places, but also have the knowledge to understand what it takes to maintain these wonderful sights Northern Spain can offer.

We also offer activities which always respect nature and are guided by an expert, like whale, brown bear and bird -watching or fishing from a fishing boat. All these activities are undertaken with a guide who will help inform guests of the most responsible ways to view wildlife etc.
We also support local food and gastronomy with ecological products, sustainable wine-tourism etc. And we hope we add our part of improving each field and at the same time, maintaining the small-scale business so it remains authentic and "something special".

People

We assist in developing local tourist-based economies by using their local taxi-services, local guides, bars, restaurants etc. by showing our guests local specialities and hidden places, that you will never find in "normal" guidebooks. Some of the hotel accommodations are located in historical buildings and the tourism helps to preserve them and their history.

On this trip, there will be plenty of opportunity to try locally caught and cooked seafood. We have included lots of kayaking stops in towns and villages so that guests may try the local cuisine and visit local producers.

Before starting your journey, you will receive a personal guidebook regarding the vacation, which takes in consideration the wishes of each traveler. E.g. if the traveler would like to visit small ecological wineries or discover the best examples of local architecture, our suggestions are all provided in the guidebook.

We are located in the heart of Northern Spain, in the old historic town of León. Our prime focus is to show our guests the most authentic, most beautiful and loveliest parts of Northern Spain. We always share our guest's experiences with the hotels and other collaboration partners we work with, to help develop local tourism into a sustainable and healthy destination. Its important for us to give our guests an experience that is not reachable in other parts of Europe, through showing them the real local life and hidden places, which our guest would never have found without our help.
