Slovenia swimming vacation, Kolpa River

We use our human-powered mini rafts and kayaks in this local region in Slovenia to keep the nature as clean as possible. Slovenia is a very clean and green country in central Europe and we follow all the local rules in this area to keep the nature park as it is. Kolpa river runs through the Nature Park which has designated spots to enter the and exit the river and we follow these marked areas on our trips.

During one of our stops along the Kolpa river at Podbrezje we sit down to have lunch overlooking the beautiful river valley. For those interested in Bela Krajina region history, you will have a chance to look at one of the oldest Slovenian watermills including a sawmill wheel. The mills on Kolpa river (a total of 48 were built in the 18th and 19th century) are an important part of Slovenian cultural heritage.

People

We support local businesses by visiting them, having meals, using their accommodation in the area and also renting some of their service along the Kolpa river.
Our groups stay in Metlika at the local and family-owned Hotel Bela Krajina. All lunch and evening meals are enjoyed at the local restaurants. Very often our guests extend their stay in the area which is popular for camping & glamping along the river, kayaking, swimming, cycling, hiking and and exploring the Bela Krajina (White Carniola) traditions with delicious food and wine.

Very often our local transportation (van) is outsourced by local drivers who help us move our guests from point to point.

When our groups are bigger we often hire an additional local kayaker to help us safeguard our swimmers. If weather turns out to be challenging we visit local wine cellar and try some local delicious specialities. This region is a bit off-the-beaten path compared to other popular destinations in Slovenia and this makes is more attractive for outdoor adventure visitors.
